Why form beats weight — always, forever, for beginners

The single most important rule for anyone lifting for the first time: leave weight on the floor until form is bulletproof.

Every serious lifter has the same regret: 'I wish I had learned form before adding weight.' You get one nervous system. Teach it good patterns first.

Three rules

  • You can always add weight next session. You cannot undo a hip injury.
  • If the last rep of the set looks different from the first rep, you're too heavy.
  • Film your working sets. Watch them. You'll fix 80% of your form issues without a coach.
